Clevinger, Denise Ferrell

Denise Ferrell Clevinger, 63 of Narrows, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 1, 2021. Denise was born on July 27, 1957 in Grundy, VA and was a daughter of the late Harry Ritter Ferrell and Florene Powers Ferrell. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Ferrell.

Denise started in the medical service as a Nurse’s Aide, and then later as an LPN. She got her associates degree as an RN at Southwest Virginia Community College (SWVCC), then attained her (BSN) in nursing at Bluefield State College. She worked first at the Grundy Hospital and then, as an E.R. nurse at the Buchanan General Hospital in Grundy. She started working at Giles Memorial Hospital from 1989 to 2003 as a Nursing Supervisor. She dedicated her life to the Nursing field and genuinely cared for people. She also loved to make jewelry for her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of forty-three years, Darrell Edgar Clevinger of Narrows, two daughters, Trista Brooke Clevinger of Narrows, Tara Dawn Switzer of Bedford, one grandson, William (Will) Andrew Switzer and one sister, Teresa Frazier and husband Ronnie of Abingdon.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, January 4, 2021 at 7pm at the Givens-Riffe Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Rev Dr Fred L. Austin officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
