Clark, Charlie Calvin
Charlie Calvin Clark, 77 of Ashland, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 11th, 2008 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland.
He was born in Bland County, Virginia on March 25th, 1931 and was the son of the late Wylie Preston and Belva Myers Clark. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Opal Lee Blankenship Clark; a brother, Clarence Clark; and a sister, Georgie Hamilton.
A veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, he retired from Betsy Ross Bakery in Ashland with 30 years service. He was also a faithful member of Cannonsburg Church of Christ, loved fishing and traveling. But most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by a son, Charlie Clark and wife Jeannie of Catlettsburg; two daughters, Wanda Burgess, and Teresa McCoy and husband Phil, all of Ashland; six grandchildren, Andy Clark and wife Sabrina, Nikki Clark, Michelle Hampton and husband Nathan, Amanda Dawson, Chris Dawson, and Misty Lilly; 10 great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Butler, Dakota Hampton, Alivia Evans, Camryn Dawson, Presli Clark, Shelbi McClurg, Jacob Gillet, Ariel Hampton, Clayton Hampton, and Peyton Lilly; a foster daughter, Chee Chee Fletcher and husband Jimmy of Rocky Gap, Virginia; and a sister, Margie Nelson of Rocky Gap, Virginia.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 14th, 2008 at 12 noon in the Chapel of Riffe Funeral Service in Narrows, Virginia, with Rev. John Repass officiating. Burial will follow in the Shrader Cemetery at Niday in Bland County. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Monday from 6 to 8 PM.
