Clark, Bernice Neely
Bernice Neely Clark, 92 of Roanoke, formerly of Narrows departed this life on Friday, March, 14th 2008 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Willowtown, West Virginia on August 30th, 1915 and was the daughter of the late Luther Floyd and Tiney Wiley Neely. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubbard Hale Clark, Jr.; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Clark LeNoir and Fred White LeNoir; three brothers, Clarence, Floyd and Carl Neely; a sister, Eva Morris; five half-brothers, Ira, Jack, Paris, James and Ernest Wiley; and a half-sister, Ola Clark.
Bernice and her husband owned Clark’s Grocery Store on Northview Street in Narrows for 34 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Narrows where she sang in the choir, and served in the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She is survived by a son, Bobby L. Clark and wife Ruth of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Melissa Clark of Baltimore, Maryland, Robert Clark of Richmond, Fred LeNoir, Jr. of Dunn, North Carolina, and Jeanie Langford and husband Andrew T. Langford, Jr., of Hopewell; a great-granddaughter, Lea Anne Langford; two great-great-grandchildren, Kaylea Anne Langford and Kaleb Clifton Sponaugle; a sister-in-law, Mary Clark of Narrows; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 16th, 2008 at 2 PM in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows with Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Saturday from 6 to 8 PM.
