Christian, Willard Lawrence

Willard Lawrence Christian, age 84, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away Saturday, December 26, 2009 at the Highland Ridge Rehab Center, Dublin, Va. Born December 13, 1925 at Leonard, W.Va., he was the son of the late Issac and Sylvania Workman Christian.

Mr. Christian was a contractor and was a World War II, U.S. Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Ann Christian and Drema Spence; four brothers, Monroe, Dewey, Dove and Tyrone Christian; and four sisters, Mary Lambert, Oma Masters, Virginia Terry and Effie Rader. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Rosie Masters Christian; one son, Jeff Christian of Belsprings, Va.; one brother, Hobert Christian and wife Alta of Dublin, Va.; and three sisters, Shirley Riner of Peterstown, W.Va., Beulah Rice and husband Arthur of Radford, Va. and Lola Huffman of Point Pleasant, W.Va.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Mt. View Cemetery, Wikel, W.Va. with Barry Harper officiating and military rites by Pembroke VFW Post 311, Narrows VFW Post 6000, Narrows American Legion Post 68 and Peterstown Rowe Jones Post 145.
