choate_hazel_shermanHazel Sherman Choate, 87, of Wake Forest, Va., was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, November 25, 2010 at Skyline Nursing Home. She was born in Wake Forest, Va. on June 2, 1923 to the late Thomas and Bonnie Milton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace “Jack” Sherman, infant twin sons, brothers, Sidney and Raypheal Milton, sisters, Marion Price, Heartsease (Teenie) Eaves, stepson, James Milton, granddaughter, Shelia Sherman. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Larry Sherman of Wake Forest, Kenneth and Constance Sherman of Radford; a daughter, Teresa Brown and Edwin Nazare of Blacksburg; grandchildren, Marvin Clark, Kevin Sherman and wife, Jennifer, Renee Sherman; adopted grandson, Scott Talbutt; two great-grandchildren; six great-greatgrandchildren; sister, Janzella McCadden of Roanoke; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Louise Milton of Alexandria, Va., Benjamin and Judith Milton of Washington, D.C.; special sister-in-law, Barbara Witcher; special cousin, Esther Jones; special nieces, Phyllis, Florence, Sylvia, and Andrea; special nephew, Raypheal Milton, Jr.; special friend, Naomi Davidson. Special thanks to Babu and Shoba Subramanyam, Palmer and Lou Talbutt, and the staff at Skyline Nursing Home and Carilion New River Valley Hospice, and the surgical care unit at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Leroy Parson officiating. Interment will follow in the Wake Forest Cemetery, McCoy, Va. Friends may call anytime after 12 noon Thursday, and the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr., Blacksburg.
