Chinn, Linda Miller

Linda Sue (Miller) Chinn, 77, most recently of Blacksburg, Virginia, departed from her earthly life on February 10, 2025. She was born April 14, 1947 in Lincoln, Nebraska to the late Otis Brown and Lucile Frederick Miller.

She was preceded in death by husband Wayne Chinn, with whom she had five children, and later in life by husband Ezra (Richard) Lucy. Linda was a loving wife and mother. Left to cherish her memory are five children: Christopher (Katie), Michael (Bertie, Maxton, Rockwell), Scott (Amy, Brennan), David (Wendy, Daisy, Rose) and Lisa (Philip, Alexander, Margaret); sister, Priscilla; and many extended family members and friends.

Linda was a 1969 graduate of Simpson College. The following year she married Wayne. They spent time living in Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Florida. An educator for over 25 years, Linda loved her time in the classroom, teaching a variety of subjects including both English and mathematics, retiring in 2012. She spent later years of her life enjoying her friends and neighbors in the Spanish Lakes community in Fort Pierce, Florida where she was a resident for almost 20 years. She was also active in the community serving as a supporter of the Lindsey School of the Arts.

Linda loved art, music, traveling and watching sports as well as trying new recipes in the kitchen and local restaurants wherever she lived. She beamed with pride in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also cherished hearing from former students and following their successes. In Blacksburg, she had become active at New Life Christian Fellowship where she attended regularly and loved providing food for community dinners and service projects.

A celebration of life lunch will take place at New Life Christian Fellowship Church, 1521 South Main Street, Blacksburg, Virginia 24060 on February 16th at 12:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
