Sue Ella Childress, 88, of Dublin, Va., and a Celanese retiree, departed her earthly life on Monday, October 5, 2009, to join her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in whom she placed her lifelong faith and trust.

She was born on June 6, 1921, in Smyth County Va., to the late James V. and Belva B. Childress. She is also preceded in death by her siblings and their spouses, James B. and Margaret Childress, Dorothy C. and Walter T. Epperly Sr., Joe T. and Rosie Childress, and very special sister, Betty Jane Childress.

Surviving is one sister, Gaynell Coffey, of Lakewood, Ohio; and several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A special heartfelt thanks goes out to each and every caregiver who took that special moment to spend time with Sue while she depended on the assistance of others with life’s daily needs.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2009, at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday morning, October 9, 2009, at Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin with the Rev. Pat K. Collins officiating. Procession will depart the funeral home 30 minutes prior to the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fairlawn Baptist Church, 6758 Oxford Ave., Fairlawn, Va. 24141 or to the Mount Tabor Methodist Church, c/o Marie Eanes, 272 Waterworks Road, Radford, Va. 24141.
