Sharon Chu Chiang, of Blacksburg, Virginia, passed away in her sleep on October 8, 2008, in the early morning. She is survived by her husband, Robert; her son, Henry and daughter-in-law, Maggie; her two grandsons, Alex and Michael; and others in her extended family all over the country and in Hong Kong and China. Sharon was born in Shanghai, China, on January 8, 1934, and moved to Blacksburg in 1968. She worked as the Chief Technical Illustrator in the Geological Science Department, at Virginia Tech for more than 20 years. Sharon and her husband loved this town and region so much they continued living in Blacksburg after retirement. For more than 10 years, they travelled all over the world. They have visited most parts of China and loved it so much. Sharon and Bob loved this area, and they created the Loving Care Endowment Fund at the Community Foundation of the New River Valley. Those who wish to honor Sharon with a charitable donation may consider the Loving Care Fund. Services will be at a later date in China. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home.
