Charlier, Fredrick Henry

He was united in marriage to Marjorie Hora on August 17, 1951. They later divorced. He is survived by four daughters and three sons, Nancy (Jack) Ray, JoAnn Charlier and Nadine (Vic) Slovack, of Musatine, Iowa, Elaine (Lonnie) LaRue, of Durant, Iowa, Charles (Dixie) Charlier, of Wilton Iowa, Jerry (Jane) Charlier, of McKiney, Texas, and Danny (Karen) Charlier, of Williamsburg, Va.; two brothers, Wilbur (Eileen) Charlier, of Minonk, Ill., and Louis (Marilyn) Charlier, of Metamora, Ill.; and a very special friend, Alta Vrooman of Williamsburg, Va. He is also survived by many grandchildren; greatgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marie Austin; and a brother, Francis Charlier. Fred was orphaned early in life. He joined the Army in 1951 and was a medic in Korea during the Korean conflict. He also served as an air craft mechanic in Vietnam during the conflict there. After retiring from the military he worked in many different jobs from wood working to mechanics and many other things in between. He was a man of many talents and much knowledge. He was always willing to give anyone and everyone a hand and share his knowledge and expertise. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Maberry Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Dalton officiating. Military Rites will be given by VFW Post #7854 and American Legion Post #127. Interment to follow in the Blue Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at the funeral home. Arrangements by Maberry Funeral Home, Inc.
