Wilma Mae Rush Chafin, 84, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021. She is now reunited with her husband of 66 years, Bobby Dean Chafin, who passed away in May 2021. She is survived by her three loving sons, Steve (Ginny) Chafin of Brown Summit, N.C., Gary (Vicky) Chafin of Roanoke, Va. and David (Lynn) Chafin of Greensboro; eight grandchildren, Kristen, Lauren, Matt, Daniel, Rebecca, Mark, Chris and Sam; and 19 great-grandchildren. Wilma was born in 1937 in Cambria, Va. to the late Frank and Reba Rush. She was a beautiful, faithful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She cherished her family and her church family at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church and had a deep and abiding faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was the embodiment of Proverbs 31:10-31. Even through her decline over the last few years of her life, as memories surrendered to Alzheimer’s, she retained her kind spirit and loving heart. She was the rock of our family and will be missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of her life and memorial will be at Friendly Avenue Baptist Church in Greensboro, N.C. at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Sunset Cemetery in Christiansburg, Va. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 11 a.m. Dr. Daniel Dickard will officiate both services.

Memorials can be made to Friendly Avenue Baptist Church (Building Fund), 4800 W. Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27410. Online condolences may be offered at www.haneslineberryfhnorthelm.com.
