Chaffin, James A.

James A. Chaffin: April 27, 1922 – June 15, 2008. James was born April 27, 1922 in Pulaski County, VA, and was the son of the late Alma Hall Chaffin and Hubert Kelly Chaffin.

He was a retired Iron Worker, a member of the Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church, and a veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army, and was a life member of the Wayn Wright V.F.W. Post in Christiansburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty Jo” Schrader Chaffin, a daughter, Brenda Chaffin Corley, a sister, Virginia C. Haga, brothers, Charles D. Chaffin and Kenneth E. Chaffin.

He is survived by three daughters; Jane C. Hughes of Pulaski, Judy C. Smith of Pulaski, and Barbara Trail and her husband Dan of Dublin: two sisters; Hazel Galloway of Pulaski, and Betty Hughes and her husband Robert of Dublin. Also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday June 17, 2008 at 12 Noon at the Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church. Visiting will be on Tuesday at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 12 Noon. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Post 1184 in Pulaski.
