Caverly, Janet Van Lierop

Janet Van Lierop Caverly, 84, of Christiansburg, passed away January 4, 2015 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital of unknown lymphoma, pneumonia, and other complications. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was preceded in death by her parents, Henry John and Anna Van Lierop; son-in-law, Michael Overstreet; brother, John Van Lierop and sister, Marta de Dreu.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 62 years, Robert H. Caverly, Christiansburg; son, Dr. Robert H. Caverly and wife, Maggie, Downingtown, Pa.; daughter, Anne Caverly Overstreet, Blacksburg; grandsons, William R. Caverly and wife, Sarah, Elverson, Pa., Matthew Caverly, Downingtown, Pa., Jacob T. Overstreet, Martinsville, Va. and Daniel R. Overstreet, Dayton, Ohio; sister, Marie Duermit and husband, Donald, Dallas, Pa. and 27 nieces and nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m. The Rite of Christian Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Blacksburg, with Father Remi Sojka officiating. Following a reception at the church, interment will be at the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley.
