amem_hydrangea.jpgReba Sue Carter, 80, of Pearl Street, Pearisburg, departed this life Friday evening, May 18, 2012 at her home after a long illness. Born in Eggleston on July 19, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Luther F. and Maggie Sue Riggs Martin.

Reba was a devoted Christian, having been a member of the Pearisburg Church of God and the Peterstown Church of God and was currently a member of the Pembroke Assembly of God. For several years she was employed with Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sons, Douglas E. Wilson and Jessie W. Wilson, her brothers, William Martin and Sam Martin and her half-sister, Bessie Snider.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband of forty-six years, Kenneth R. Carter; her sisters, Gertrude M. Terry and Mary E. Martin of Pearisburg; her brother, Albert Junior Martin of Staffordsville; and her four loving grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 22, 2012 in the Pembroke Assembly of God with Pastor Terry Eversole and Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke.
