Carter, James “Little Bit”

The Good Lord has called one of His true soldiers home, James “Little Bit” Carter age 85, born November 1, 1923 went to his Heavenly Home August 11, 2009 at his residence in Pulaski, VA.

James was a devoted and faithful member of First Baptist Church, Magazine St., Pulaski, VA. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 33 years Ella Mae Carter; Brothers Robert, John Henry, Tarzan, and William Carter, and sister Bertha Davidson.

He leaves to cherish and rejoice in his memory a loving and devoted daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Richard Smith of the home; four brothers; Eddie Carter of Pulaski, VA., Elder Golden Carter of Martinsville, VA., Gabrielle Carter of Jersey City, NJ., and Gerald Carter of Fernandina, FL.; one sister Rosa Lee Carter of Roanoke, VA.; four grandchildren: David (Carla) Webb, Jr. of Richmond, VA., Sheila (Danny) Simmons of Draper, VA., Darnell (Lisa) Webb of Pulaski, VA. and Darrell Webb of Knoxville, TN. He also leaves a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and many, many relatives and friends, he loved everyone and was loved by all.

Funeral services to be conducted Saturday , August 15, 2009 at 2:00pm at First Baptist Church, Magazine St., Pulaski, VA. with Pastor William J. Smith, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until time of service at the church. Interment will follow at Pinehurst Cemetery in Pulaski, VA.
