Harley Ellett Carroll, 90, of Shawsville, Va. passed on to the loving hands of his Father on Friday, September 22, 2006.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Nora Carroll. Mr. Carroll proudly served his country as a Gunner in ‘C’ Company 11th Armored Infantry Battalion serving in Italy and Africa. He was awarded a Purple Heart. He retired from VPI after over 30 years service, and was a long time member of Wesley Memorial. He will always be remembered as a kind and caring Christian man. He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy Gerald Carroll; two sons, Stanley Carroll and wife, Sherrie, of Camp Hill, Pa., and Brian Carroll and wife, Ruth, of Shawsville, Va.; and one granddaughter, Laura Carroll. He is also survived by brothers, Page Carroll and wife, Helen, of Blacksburg, and Allen Carroll and wife, Doris, of Hot Springs, Ark. The family would like to thank Carilion Home Health, especially, Barbara and Diane; and Gentle Shepherd Hospice, Pat, Jenny, and Elaine, whose love and compassion meant so much to us.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 25, 2006 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jube Burk and the Rev. Bill St. Claire officiating. Interment will follow in the Westview Cemetery, Blacksburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Gentle Sheppard Hospice, 6045 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, Va. 24019. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
