Carroll, Doris Ramey

Doris Ramey Carroll, 90 of Fishers, Indiana, formerly of Narrows, passed away Friday, December 21st. She was born in Coeburn, Virginia on January 13th, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Roy Roscoe and Aurora Powers Ramey. In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her husband, S.B. Carroll, and a son, Slade Burnell Carroll. Doris was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Narrows. She and her husband owned the Penny Pincher store, as well as the laundromat in Pearisburg for many years. She and S.B were avid fans and supporters of Virginia Tech football and basketball, but Doris’ most favorite hobby was reading. Left to cherish her memory are three granddaughters, Kristine Brown and husband Chris of Fishers, Indiana; Kimberly Carroll-Pincus and husband Eric of Cambridge, Massacheusetts, Kirsten Caroll of Columbus, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Brown, Grant Brown, and Vanya Pincus; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 29th, 2012 at 12 noon in the Chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service with Rev. Jerry Sawyers officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at Riffe’s Funeral Service Saturday from 10 AM until just prior to the service.
