Carner, Ruby Lee Rush

Ruby Lee Rush Carner, 87, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2010, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. She was a long-time employee of Leggett’s Department Store. She was a member of Christiansburg Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis W. Carner; her mother and father, Frank and Nellie Payne Rush; stepmother, Rheba C. Rush; and her sisters, Louise R. Linkous, Treva R. Miles and Frances R. Williams. She is survived by her sisters, Wilma Chafin (Bob), of Greensboro, N.C., Doris Martin, of Riner, Va., Ella Ruth Hutchins, of Christiansburg, Va., and Shirley Adkins (Bob), of Ferrum, Va.; and brothersin-law, Fred L. Williams Jr., of Christiansburg, Va., and Turk Miles, of Martinsville, Va. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Bobby Linkous, of Fairlawn, Va., Darlene Shepherd and Ross Linkous, both of Christiansburg, Va., Lee Ann Fuller, of Martinsville, Va., Fred Williams III, of Blountville, Tenn., Ben Williams, of Christiansburg, Va., Steve and David Chafin, of Greensboro, N.C., Gary Chafin, of Roanoke, Va., Jimmy Martin and Lori Mitcham, both of Riner, Va., Greg Hutchins, of Christiansburg, Va., Clay Adkins, of Ferrum, Va., and Aaron Adkins, Rutherfordton, N.C.. There are also numerous great-nieces, nephews and friends. Services are scheduled for noon on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at the Horne Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Makin and the Rev. Everett Shepherd officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to service from 10 a.m. to noon. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Christiansburg Rescue Squad, Christiansburg Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
