Geneva Hamblin Carner, 82, of McCoy, died Sunday, July 1, 2007 at Wheatland Hills, Radford.

She was born in Pulaski County, Va. on July 20, 1924 to the late Robert R. and Bertie Craig Hamblin. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth, Emmett, Garfield and Harold Hamblin.

She was a member of Centennial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) for over 60 years. Mrs. Carner operated Bob’s Store in McCoy for 53 years with her husband, retiring in 2000.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Robert “Bob” Carner, Sr. of McCoy; her son and daughter-in-law, Charles Robert “Bobby”, Jr. and Robin B. Carner of Blacksburg; her granddaughter, Jessica C. Snider and husband, Jeremy of McCoy; her great-granddaughter, Sydney Jane Snider of McCoy; one sister-in-law, Virginia Hamblin and her daughter, Carol of Indian Trail, N.C.; two other nieces, Martha Scott of Salem, Va., Debbie Plunkett of New Castle, Va.; a nephew, Rodney Hamblin of Goodview, Va.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Wheatland Hills, Radford, for all their loving care and support shown to Mrs. Carner during her illness. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Norma Decker for her loving care and support.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at 1 p.m. in the Centennial Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), McCoy with Pastor Zeke Zanatas and Rev. Holly O. Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Centennial Christian Church Cemetery. Flowers will appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Centennial Christian Church Cemetery, P.O. Box 427, McCoy, VA, 24111. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
