Canterbury, William Lee

William Lee “Billy” Canterbury, age 47, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at his home in Cashmere, WV. Born July 3, 1975, he was the son of the late William Franklin Canterbury and Brenda Lou Dunbar Cecil.

When Billy wasn’t travelling throughout the U.S. installing industrial flooring, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his granddaughter on the family farm. Billy loved to vacation in Clearwater, FL and visit the scenic Appalachian Mountains when he had the opportunity. As a teenager Billy was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, which he would struggle with throughout his life. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard “Witty” and Helen Carrell Canterbury; maternal grandparents, Ted and Wanda Dunbar; his aunt, Linda Canterbury; and several other extended family members.

Survivors include his daughter, Katelyn Canterbury and fiancé Eli McKinney; his granddaughter, Harper Rayne McKinney; one brother, Ted Canterbury and wife Marwa Abdellatif; and many other extended family members and friends.

In keeping with his wishes, Billy will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Rock Camp Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Broyles officiating. Visitation with the family will be held from 11:00AM until time of services on Saturday at the church.
