Jewel Maxine Candler, 74, of Princeton, W.Va., passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. She was born in Narrows, Va., on June 2, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Allen David and Ruth Duncan Pruett.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Juanita Claybourn; her daughter, Bonnie Spurling; and granddaughter ,Amber Babcock. Maxine’s beautiful smile will be missed by all the people who were blessed to know her. She was a member of Kellysville Church of God in Kellysville, W.Va.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Forrest Candler, of Princeton; her children, Barbara Scott and husband, Mike, of Dallas, N.C., Carl Hare Jr., of Pearisburg, Bill Hare and wife, Leslie, of Charlotte, Ruthie Connell and husband, Larry, of Newark, Ohio, Dan Hare and wife, Dee ,of Stanley, N.C., David Hare and wife, Nuria, of Dallas, N.C., and Tina Graham and husband, John, of Egeria, W.Va.; 15 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; and two sisters, Lois Balarzs, of Narrows, and Joyce St.Clair, of Pembroke, Va.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Kellysville Church of God with Pastor Franklin Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Narrows.
