Louis M. Callahan, 86, of Dublin, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at his home. He was born March 10, 1927, in Wytheville, to the late Garland and Thelma Chrisley Callahan.

Mr. Callahan was retired from Olga Coal Company, Caretta, W.Va. He was a member of the Highland Park Community Church, Dublin, for many years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served during World War II. He was a football official for 41 years, a basketball official for 21 years, an American Legion Baseball coach for seven years, a Little Baseball coach for 27 years, and a Boy Scout Master for Troop 82.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Virginia Dare Webb Callahan, of Dublin; four sons and daughters-in-law, Tony Callahan and wife, Brenda, of Rural Retreat and their son Robert, daughter, Wendy, and granddaughter, Halee, Danny Callahan and his wife, Brenda, of Newbern and sons, Shane and wife, Vanessa, and Jason, Steven Callahan and wife, Zelda, of Danville and daughter, Melissa, son, Jared, and grandson, Randy; Timothy Callahan and wife, Judy, of Dublin and daughters, Annie Marie and Lindsey; sisters, Ruth Coe, Thelma Callahan, Audrey Pike, and Joyce Hackler, all of Wytheville, and Vickie Eddy, of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Joan Callahan, of Pulaski; brothers -in-law, Roy Hackler, of Wytheville, Butch Eddy, of Roanoke; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013, at the Highland Park Community Church, Dublin with Pastor Michael Blouse officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1 p.m. until service hour at the church.
