Donald Miller Caldwell, 90, formerly of Newport, departed this life on Monday, August 27, 2018 at The Crossings at Blacksburg where he had resided since December 2015. Born in Newport on March 19, 1928, he was the son of the late Johnie Helsabeck Caldwell and Reba Lake Caldwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty H. Caldwell in 2009, two brothers, Ronald C. Caldwell and Delancie W. Caldwell, and an infant grandson.

He retired from the VA Tech Electric Department in June 1993 after 27-years of service.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Douglas Caldwell and wife, Snookie of Lexington, VA and Darrell Caldwell and wife, Terri of Fredericksburg, VA, his grandchildren, Jeremy Caldwell and wife, Erin of Charlotte, NC, Seth Caldwell and wife, Marnie of Lexington, Melissa Caldwell, Meredith Caldwell, and Morgan Caldwell all of Fredericksburg, great-grandchildren, Kelsie and Josephine Caldwell of Lexington, Lillian and Anna Caldwell of Charlotte, and Bethany, Bryce, and Brayden Caldwell all of Fredericksburg.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at the Forks of Johns Creek Christian Church at Maggie in Craig County, with Pastor Bill Frazier officiating. Burial will follow at the Huffman Family Cemetery, also at Maggie. The family will receive friends at Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke, VA on Friday evening, August 31, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M.
