Cabaniss Jr., Earl Daves

Earl Daves Cabaniss Jr., 59, of Pulaski, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2012, at Wake Forest Memorial Baptist in Winston-Salem, N.C., after battling a long time illness. He is now walking side by side in the presence of our loving Heavenly Father, facing no more pain or suffering. Earl was born on June 2, 1953, in Newport News. He is a graduate of Pulaski High School, Class of 1971, where he enjoyed running track. Earl placed second in state in the long jump and triple jump events. He attended New River Community College then went on to attend Ferrum College. Earl was a construction worker for about 15 years and then worked at Volvo for 26 years. Earl was preceded in death by his father, Earl Daves Cabaniss, on May 1, 2012. Surviving are his wife of 29 loving years, Lugene P. Cabaniss; daughter, Jackie C. Gephardt and her husband, Christopher, along with their two daughters, Gabrielle Christine and Kendall Morgan, of Baltimore, Md.; daughter, Tanna Faye Elizabeth Payne and her husband, John, of Richmond; son, Earl Daves Cabaniss III, of Pulaski; loving mother, Edna Faye Brickhouse Cabaniss; sister, Susan Kirby and her husband, John, along with their three boys, Jay, Tyler and Jordan, of Roanoke; and sister, Elizabeth Wadsworth and her husband, Richard, of Georgia. Earl was a loving, caring father, compassionate husband and fun-loving grandfather. Earl will be missed by a long list of “good ole” buddies but will live on in our cherished memories. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, beginning at 5 p.m. until the memorial service at 7 p.m. at Steven’s Funeral Home, Pulaski, with Pastor Dave Hoover officiating.
