Butler, John Thomas

John Thomas Butler, 83, of Cirus Street in Pearisburg, Va., departed this life on Monday evening, June 8, 2009, at his home in the loving care of his family. Born in Giles County on March 25, 1926, he was a son of the late Charles Lee and Eloise Powell Butler. John had worked at RAAP and for many years was a barber at Price’s Modern Barber Shop in Pearisburg. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Jeanne Butler Beckner, of Pearisburg, and Tina Butler Cline and her husband, Steven, of Montvale; his sons, Charles Thomas Butler and his wife, Marilyn Laufer ,of Columbus, Ga., and Jay Butler, of Fayetteville, N.C.; his brother, William A. Butler, of Luray; his sister, Alpha B. Songer, of Narrows; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2009, in Angels Rest Memory Gardens in Narrows. There will be no public visitation at the funeral home but friends may stop by the residence at their convenience.
