Burton, Virginia Elizabeth

Virginia Elizabeth Burton, 83, of Eggleston, departed this life Sunday morning, March 22, 2009, after a long illness at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Hardy, Kentucky on May 8, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Giles Stewart and Sally Albert Burton. She was a member of Green Valley United Methodist Church, near her home, and was retired from the Celanese Plant at Narrows with forty-four years service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Frank Burton, Charlie Burton, and Wilmot Burton, and a sister, Freeda Rogers. She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Giles Burton, of Eggleston and Darcy and his wife, Altheia Tate Burton, of Mechanicsville, Va.; her grandchildren, Christopher Lee Burton and his wife, Carolyn and Julie Renee Moore and her husband, Jason and a great-grandson, James Moore.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 12 noon at the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke. Interment will be private, at a later date, in the Walker Cemetery at Eggleston. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the services.
