Pansy M. Burton, 92, of Riner, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Radford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Pansy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who never met a stranger. She loved God and was a long time member of Auburn United Methodist Church.

She was born in Wilcoe, W.Va., on September 27, 1915, to the late Joseph and Laura Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Esker J. Burton; two sons, Richard and Joseph Burton; one brother, William Martin; and one sister, Madeline Sills.

Pansy is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Norman and Marlane Burton; grandson, Brian Burton; grandson and wife, Kelly and Debbie Burton; and twin great-grandchildren, Emma and Ethan, all of Riner, Va. Also surviving is the grandson she raised, Richard, and wife, Rose Burton; and great-grandchildren, Andy, Zack, and Brittany; a special and devoted sister-in-law, Virginia Burke, of Radford; a special cousin and husband, Gwen and Bill Freed, of Bowie, Maryland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel at 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, 2008 with the Rev. Kathy Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg, Va. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, May 13, 2008.
