Janie Leeoda Peters Burton, 98 of Narrows, VA went to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 5, 2020. Mrs. Burton was born on January 14, 1922 in Pageton, WV and was a daughter of the late John Henry William Peters and Roxie Bailey Peters.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Ray Martin and her second husband, James Lyness Burton, two sons Larry Martin, Lewis Carroll Martin, three sisters, Virginia Baker, Annie Meadows, Bertie Mullins, one granddaughter, Rita Martin and one grandson, Billy Havens.

Mrs. Burton loved crocheting, cooking, baking, gardening, making quilts and loved the company of her family. She also loved her pet parrot, Bo who kept her company for many years. She is survived by her daughter, Mary A. Kessinger (Billy) of Elliston, four granddaughters, Sherry Havens (Gene) of Pearisburg, Tammy Shultz (Mike) of Lindside, WV, Chas Burgess of Rich Creek, Rhonda Wilcox of IL, three grandsons, Rocky Kessinger of Elliston, Billy Kessinger of Elliston, Marty Kessinger of Salem, three special nieces, Lori Baker, Patty Ettinger, Judy Clatterbaugh, four great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and five great great great grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday, November 9, 2020 at 11am at Fairview Cemetery in Narrows with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. We will be observing COVID-19 precautions, please wear a mask and observe social distancing.
