Burton, Betty Williams

Betty Jean Williams Burton, 78, of Pearisburg departed this life Friday morning, July 10, 2009 at Riverview Nursing Home in Narrows. Born in Newport on July 23, 1930, she was a daughter of the late James Walker and Ruby Smith Williams.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a grandchild, a daughter Beverly Thomas, a sister Virginia Martin, and a brother William M. “Dick” Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved and faithful husband Robert F. Burton; two sons Sherwood Reed and Wayne Reed of Roanoke; a grandchild; two sisters Mary Ann Huffman of Cedar Bluff and Hilda Grubb of Kokomo, Indiana.

Private funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, July 12, 2009 in the Kendall Funeral Home at Pembroke with entombment following in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg.
