Jack James Burroughs, age 91 of Pulaski passed away Monday, September 23, 2013 at the home of his son in King George, Virginia. Born November 2, 1921 in Bluefield, West Virginia, he was the son of the late James Blane Burroughs and Cora Ethel Kidd Burroughs. His wife, Edna Mae Gent Burroughs, and a number of sisters and brothers also preceded him in death. He was a former member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Pulaski and was a current member of the Fletcher’s Chapel United Methodist in King George. Mr. Burroughs was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a member of the Pulaski American Legion and retired from the furniture industry with over 42 years of service. Surviving Sons- Lynn Gent Burroughs and wife, Pat- King George, VA., Gary Wayne Burroughs and wife, Donna – Royce City, Texas. Grandchildren-Mitchell, Robert, Jana, and Ken. Sisters- Helen Maxine Eaton- Bland, Mary Frances Parcell-Pearisburg, Wanda Jane Blankenship-Bland, Betty Lane-Bland. Brothers Orrin Burroughs-WA., Harry Lee Burroughs-Stephens City, VA, John Robert “Johnny” Burroughs-KY. Funeral services will be held Friday 1:00 p.m., September 27, 2013, at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Pulaski with Rev. Bobby Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin with military honors conducted at the graveside by the Pulaski V. F. W. Post 1184. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1946 Medallion Dr. Pulaski. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bower Funeral Home, 1631 Bob White Blvd.,Pulaski.
