Burress, Nettie Carole

Nettie Carole Burress, 66, of Elliston, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Mary Elizabeth Johnson; and aunt and uncle, Nettie and Martin Kersey. She is survived by her husband, John J. Burress; son, John J. Burress Jr.; numerous foster children; best friend, Peggy Heslep; and special friends, Donald and Valerie Whitlock. Carole was a great Christian wife and mother, with a big heart. She cared for everyone she knew. One of her favorite quotes was “Try to do your best every day” and she lived by that motto. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 11, 2012, at Seneca Baptist Church, Elliston, with Pastor John Collins officiating.
