Burlingame, Floyd Edgar
Floyd Edgar Burlingame, 88, of Radford, died Monday, February 18, 2008. Well known in the community as “The Barber,” he joined his father in 1946 and served as a barber for more than fifty eight years.
The son to the late Fred and Emma Burlingame, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Burlingame, on February 16, 1993. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Peggy Burlingame, The Villages, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Arnold A. Woodyard, of Christiansburg; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Alexander, Milford, Del., and Mrs. Flora Briggs, Lakewood, Colo.; three grandsons; three granddaughters; four greatgrandsons; and two greatgranddaughters. Mr. Burlingame was also preceded in death by his longtime friend and confidant, Norma Jean Hawks. Also surviving are his daughters, Marcia Hampton and fiance, James Hoback, and Margaret Morgan; son, Paul Morgan; one grandson; and two granddaughters; and one greatgrandson.
The family will receive friends at The Horne Funeral Home Tuesday, February 19, 2008, from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at Gethsemane Baptist, 2004 Preston St., Radford, Va.
