George Thomas Burleigh, age 72, passed away on November 3, 2020, at Skyline Nursing Home in Floyd, Virginia. Born on April 1,1948, Tom was the son of George and Dot Burleigh.

He had been a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church and in the past Radford Worship Center.

Tom enjoyed his employment at Radford University as part of the maintenance crew, his years at Mottesheard’s Gas Station, and for the last 20 years as the maintenance guy at Kenley Court. Tom loved doing anything that involved being outside!

Tom’s free time was spent fishing as often as possible, hunting, gardening, and tinkering with and “modifying” any vehicle he ever owned, and camping and fishing vacations in Virginia Beach with his wife.

Tom loved his family and they loved him! His generosity of time and his kindness to everyone he met was an example to all. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jane Dehart. He is survived by his wife, Carrie L. Burleigh of Christiansburg; daughter and son-in-law, Lynn B. and David Williams of Willis; sister and brother-in-law, Ann B. and Bruce Bragg of Johns Island, S.C.; grandchildren, Rusty Burleigh, Crystal Nester, and Jacob Nester; great-grandchildren, Weston and Colt Burleigh, Caleb Vaught, and Abigail Nester. He is also survived by his niece, Ami DeHart Watkins; nephews, Jim Bragg, and Bill Bragg; brother-in-law, Steve Dehart; and lifelong friend, Phil Quesenberry.

A great way to honor Tom is to enjoy your day, wear a big smile, and lend a helping hand. In lieu of flowers, a donation in Tom’s name to Activities Director, Skyline Nursing Home, 237 Franklin Pike Road, SE, Floyd, VA 24091 or the Radford Worship Center Food Pantry Program, 1820 2nd Street, Radford, VA 24141 would be welcomed.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 28, 2020 in the West View Cemetery in Radford.
