Burke, Virginia Martin

Virginia Martin Burke, of Radford, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, January 8, 2015, with her children and family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Clyde M. Creason and Ruth Ellis Creason. She was a member of Grove United Methodist Church for over 60 years.

She is survived by two sons, Roland Dale Martin, of Collinsville, Va., William Charles Martin Jr. (Patricia), of Radford, Va.; daughters, Laura Holder (Herbert), of Danville, Va., Rita Bugg (and the late Stanley Bugg), of Christiansburg, Va., Judy Gardner (David), of Rougemont, N.C.; one step-daughter, Joanne Burke Pittman, of Salem, Va.; brother, Clyde Milton Creason (Joan), of Charlotte, N.C.; sisters, Grace Alexander (Bill), of Lanexa, Va., and Maxine Capua, of Dallas, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Her children are forever grateful for the hard working, dedicated mother they had. She devoted her life to raising and caring for them after the untimely death of their father in 1960.

“Jenny” was a great friend and neighbor. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by many.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m.on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2015, in the Horne Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Aaron Pierce officiating.
