Buhrdorf, Gunter Dietrich

Gunter Dietrich Buhrdorf, 93, of Christiansburg Va. died peacefully on Friday, September 28, 2018, at Commonwealth Senior Living where he lived for the past 5 years. Gunter Dietrich Buhrdorf was born on March 1, 1925 in Bremen, Germany. Gunter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend and mentor to many.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Frances Latreille Buhrdorf; mother, Wilhelmine Buhrdorf; father, Dietrich Buhrdorf; and brothers, Karl Buhrdorf and Harry Buhrdorf. He is survived by his son, Kevin Buhrdorf & his wife, Jacqueline, of Christiansburg and daughter, Karen & her husband, Anthony Momorella, of Hillsboro, N.H.; three grandchildren, Kristofer and Kelli Buhrdorf of Christiansburg, and Ashley Bird of Stafford; and four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Natalie, Jordyn and Emma Bird of Stafford.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 pm, Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Commonwealth Senior Living in Christiansburg Va. A graveside service will be held at noon, Friday, October 12, 2018, at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
