Lila Catherine Lawson Buchanan, 80, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away on Monday, March 23, 2009. She was born in Meadows of Dan, Va., to the late Turner and Agnes Lawson.

She worked in Richmond and Roanoke before moving from Roanoke to Christiansburg in 2001. She was a member of Christiansburg Presbyterian Church.

Lila was preceded in death by her husband, Horace G. Buchanan III; four sisters, Ida Cruise, Anna Lawson, Orene Harris, and Edna Cockram; and four brothers, Floyd Lawson, Matt Lawson, Guy Lawson, and John Ellis Lawson. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lucinda “Cyndi” and Brian Hamilton, of Cedar Park, Texas; three grandchildren, Lawson Hamilton, Savannah Hamilton, and Liam Hamilton; three sisters and brothers-inlaw, Irene and Earl Simpson, of Martinsville, Va., Wilma and Al Padgett, of Parkville, Md., and Clara and Larry Despers, of Cloverdale, Va.; brother-in-law, Warren Harris; sister-in-law, Arlene Lawson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Gardner Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Makis officiating. Interment will follow in Lawson Cemetery, Meadows of Dan, Va. Family will receive friends on Sunday from 12:30 until 2:30 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home Floyd, Va.
