Buchanan, Jack Milton

Jack Milton Buchanan, 91 of Christiansburg, VA, formerly of Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 12, 2022, at the Carilion New River Valley Medical Center in Christiansburg. Jack was born on December 10, 1931, in Mitchell Co., NC, and was a son of the late Willard Brown Buchanan and Vaultie Wilson.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Frances Beatrice Reyolds Buchanan, 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Jack grew up in Ledger, NC and graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN receiving a BS degree in Physics. He was a member and Sunday School teacher at the Pearisburg Baptist Church, a former employee of the Celanese Corp in Narrows and retired from The Chemical Lime Plant in Gold Bond, VA. After he retired, he loved anything outdoors, reading and working on jigsaw puzzles.

He is survived by 1 son, Joe B. Buchanan (Nora) of Christiansburg and 2 granddaughters, Lori E. Buchanan of Roanoke, Carrie L. Buchanan of Christiansburg, brother-in-law, U.B. “Bud” Reynolds (Lillian) of Peterstown and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11am at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with Pastor Michael Bartlett officiating with burial following in the Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour before the service from 10 – 11am.
