Bruce, Mary Webb Johnson

Mary (May) Elizabeth Webb Johnson Bruce passed away peacefully on May 25, 2011, at the age of 89. She was born on April 10, 1922, to the union of the late Moses and Virginia Webb, the first of 14 children.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Moses and Virginia Webb; three brothers, Samuel, Moses Jr. and David; five sisters, Elizabeth Tyler, Della Rembrandt, Arvella Smith, Yvonne Black, Drema Curbean. Mary was blessed with two wonderful husbands, the late James Richard Johnson Sr. and James “Jim” Bruce.

Mary and Richard were blessed with two children, Marvin and James Richard (preceded in death). Mary and James were blessed with six children, Charles (preceded in death), Patricia Bruce, Jackie Holmes (Tyrone), Sharon Harvey (John), Larry Bruce, James Bruce. She is survived by four brothers, Robert Webb, Elizabeth, N.J., Clarence Webb, Dublin, Va., Alvin Webb, Jersey City, N.J., James Webb, Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Margaret Thompson, Pulaski, Va., Edith Fuqua, South Brunswick, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and church members.

Services will be held at the Spirit of Life Church, Randolph Avenue, Pulaski, Va. on Thursday, May 28, 2011, with visitation at noon and service at 1 p.m. Funeral arrangements handled by Penn’s Funeral Home, 231 Randolph Avenue, Pulaski.
