Broyles, Johnny Ray

Johnny Ray Broyles, age 64, lost his 20-year battle with various forms of cancer, surrounded by family at his home in Ballard, WV, where he lived his entire life. Born May 19,1957, in Pearisburg, VA, he was the son of the late Henry and Willie Helvey Broyles.

Johnny graduated from Peterstown High School in 1975. Johnny retired from Federal Mogul in Blacksburg, VA. Upon retirement, Johnny and his brother, Jimmy, started J’s Mobile Cleaning and Driveway Sealing Operations. Several years later, Johnny and his son, Shaun, started going to the Pence Spring Flea Market where Johnny developed a passion for building cornhole boards and WV signs. He customized all his boards, selling many throughout WV and VA. He was a good man that always tried to help others. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Adrienne Lea Broyles; and sisters, Joyce Rice, Brenda Hazelwood, and Shirley Broyles. Survivors include his wife, Stephanie C. Broyles; son, Shaun “Virgil” Broyles; brothers, Jimmy Broyles and wife Sherry, Bobby Broyles and wife Shirley, and Gary Broyles, all of Peterstown, WV; sisters, Judy McClung and husband Tommy of Goose Creek, SC, Robin Booth and husband Teddy, Linda Carter and Ginny Harry of Peterstown, WV, Mae Sanders of Ballard, WV, and Faye Bradley and husband Wayne of Ballard, WV; his dogs, Max and Grey; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children. Also surviving are two loving friends and neighbors, Paula and Melvin Miller.

In keeping with Johnny’s wishes, he will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pete Dunford and Pastor Dave Spencer officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00PM until time of services on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the funeral home.
