Broyles, Bobby Joe

Bobby Joe Broyles, age 87, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, at the Stonerise Lindside Nursing Home in Lindside, WV. Born June 29, 1936, in Ballard, WV, he was the son of the late Henry and Willie Helvey Broyles.

Bobby was a member of the Lindside Christian Church in Lindside, WV. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired from Celanese after working there for many years. Additionally, Bobby owned a roofing business and roofed many houses in the area. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Jones Broyles; sisters, Joyce Rice, Brenda Hazelwood, and Shirley Broyles; and one brother, Johnny Broyles.

Survivors include two daughters, Tammy (Steve) Hazelwood, and Barbara Jo Archie; five grandchildren, Krisha (Wayne) Kees, Candice (Ryan) Smith, Christen Porterfield, Adam (Kayla) Hazelwood, and Brittany (Jorge) Munoz; ten great grandchildren, Caroline and Sawyer Kees, Thomas, Hadley, and Adeline Smith, Elijah and Asher Porterfield, Ember and Barrett Hazelwood, and Marco Munoz; two brothers, Jimmy (Sherry) Broyles and Gary Broyles; and six sisters, Judy (Tommy) McClung, Robin (Teddy) Booth, Linda Carter, Ginny Harry, Mae Sanders, and Faye (Wayne) Bradley; and several in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Additionally, the family would like to thank the staff at Stonerise Lindside and all of Bobby’s caretakers for the wonderful care that they provided him.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Gary Hazelwood officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rich Creek, VA. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
