amem_rhodo1.jpgWilda Ann Brooks Brown, 91, of Pearisburg, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Brown was born on February 24, 1920, in Petry, W.Va., and was a daughter of the late Garland and Ethel Brooks.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, E. Ralph Brown; one son, Thomas Ralph Brown; one sister, Waveline Coburn; one brother, Norville Brooks; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and two nieces.

Mrs. Brown was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pearisburg, she was well known for her fried apple pies and loved spending time with all of her family and friends.

She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Vonda B. and Bill Johnston, of Hardy, Va.; two granddaughters and their husbands, Chandra and David Bratton, of The Woodlands, Texas, and Anissa and Paul Calhoun, of Efland, N.C.; five great-grandchildren, Randy, Emily and Julie Bratton, Tyler and Hannah Jarvis; one niece and her husband, Mildred and Dick Meador; two nephews and wives, Hale and Imogene Farley and Ben and Margie Farley; and many special friends.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2011, at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Pastor Troy Keaton officiating. Burial will follow in the Athens Cemetery in Athens, W.Va. The family will receive friends at the Givens Funeral Home on Thursday evening, October 13, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. Online condolences can be sent to the family at givensfuneralhome.com.
