Marvin Alexander Brown, 90, of 133 Zeigler Avenue, Dublin, VA died Thursday morning, May 8, 2008, at his home. He was born in Bane, VA (Giles Co.) on Sept. 6, 1917 and was the son of the late Robert Hix Brown and Osha Wells Brown. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Brown and by a sister. He was a retired employee of the Dublin Post Office and he was a veteran having served during World War II in the United States Army. Mr. Brown was a member of the Dublin Church of God. Surviving are: his wife, Edna Haga Brown, Dublin; daughters & son-in-law, Audrey & Rev. James Hopkins, Dublin, Deborah Brown, Dublin; son, Robert Brown, Dublin; sisters & brother-in-law, Patsy & Rod Mitchem, Dublin, Opal Johnston, Raleigh, NC, Ruby McMillan, Raleigh, NC. There will be a graveside service Saturday, May 10, at 12 noon at Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin with Rev. Michael Collins, Rev. James Hopkins and Rev. Danny McGlothlin officiating. The Radford VFW will be conducting the military graveside rites. Visiting will be Friday evening from Stevens Funeral Home, Pulaski where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that memorials be made to the Dublin Church of God or to the Carilion NRV Hospice.
