Brown, Lillie Belle Burks

Lillie Belle Burks Brown, 85, of Floyd, went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on May 8, 1926.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Brown. She was one of 17 children and had 10 brothers and six sisters, 11 of which are deceased, along with one step grandson. She is survived by her children, Brenda Goad, Merrillville, Ind., Russell Brown and wife, Bonnie, Floyd, Patty Duncan and husband, John, Floyd; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great -great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Burks, Keystone, W.Va., Georgia Bailey, South Point, Ohio, Lois Poff, Willis, Maggie Moody, Brenton, W.Va., King Burks, Kimball, W.Va.; sister-in-law, Shirley Keith, Bassett; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Buddy and Violet Brown, Willis; sister-in-law, Betty Brown, Willis; special friends, Lucy and Junior Harris; special friend and caregiver, Loretta Callahan, who always called her Granny.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roy Turpin officiating. Interment will follow at the Jacksonville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 18, 2012 at the funeral home.
