Kenneth (Kenny) O’Keefe Brown, 52, of McCoy, died Saturday, December 31, 2005, at his home.

He was born in Bluefield, W.Va., on November 6, 1953, to the late Melvin Charles, Sr. and Ulysses Turner Brown and was also preceded in death by a brother, Herbert Turner Brown and a sister, Dr. Marlene Faye Brown.

He attended Ferrum College and William and Mary under a football scholarship and received his master’s degree at Central Michigan University. Kenny served ten years in the Army where he earned the rank of Captain and was a member of the Wake Forest Baptist Church.

He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Meredith Courtney and Sean Foy of Fredericksburg, Va., and Fredricka Juanita Dooley-Brown of Fairmont, W.Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy and Jesse Vanderhall of Long Island, N.Y. and Denise and Mike Holland of Blacksburg; brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin Charles Brown, Jr. of Floyd, William and Rebecca Brown, John C. Brown, Earl T. Brown, Mack and Karen Brown, Theron U. Brown, all of Blacksburg, Gregory and Laurie Brown of Woodbridge, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, January 7, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hiawatha Spraggins officiating. Interment will follow in the Brown Family Cemetery, McCoy. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, Blacksburg.
