Clark Matthew Brown, 65, died suddenly on Thursday, July 23, 2009, at his home in Pearisburg, Va. He was born in Elkin, N.C., on January 16, 1944, to the late Bert Calvin and Hattie Pruitt Brown. In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Bryson; a sister-in-law, Janis Brown; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Clark was an electronic technician in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Virginia Tech for over 28 years. He was highly skilled in electronics and was an excellent listener, plus he had a tremendous sense of humor. He’ll be dearly missed by his family and all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years and his best friend, Judy Gardner Brown; a daughter, Shannon Rene Brown, both of Pearisburg; a brother, Swanson B. Brown and wife, Ilene, of Lillian, Ala.; a brotherin-law, Bill Bryson, of Virginia Beach; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2009, in the chapel of Riffe’s Funeral Service in Narrows, Va., with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Entombment will follow in Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg.
