Babs Brown, who resided in Radford but was a lifelong resident of Front Royal, died at Lewis-Gale Montgomery Regional Hospital on April 14, 2014. Babs was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart E. “Brownie” Brown. She was born in Riverton, Va. on March 28, 1928 to the late Beverly and Weltie Cameron.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Bruce E. Brown and his wife, Cary Brown of Radford, Va. and her daughter, Barbara “Barbee” Brown of Culpeper, Va. Her granddaughter, Tiffany A. Brown of Roanoke, Va., also survives her.

She was the last remaining daughter of Beverly and Weltie Cameron. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Leona C. Carroll, Mildred C. Clark, Gertrude Berryman, Beat Judy, and Bert Stratton. Her brothers Beverly “Sonny” Cameron, Jim Cameron, and Larry Cameron also preceded her in death.

Babs cared deeply about her friends and her community. She was a proud retiree of Warren Memorial Hospital where she managed the switchboard and many other tasks. Upon retirement, Babs was happy to volunteer her time and expertise to senior citizens of Front Royal who needed assistance with their hospital bills. She did this through her connection with the ACTWU at the Union Hall. Babs was very proud to have been a Cameron and very happy to be Brownie’s wife. She lived life on her terms. She was funny, feisty and loving until the end. While we will miss her dearly we know she is in God’s hands and with Brownie and all of her brothers, sisters, Momma and Poppa.

In lieu of flowers, any remembrances may be expressed in donations to the Front Royal Humane Society. Memorial services will be held at Turner-Robertshaw Funeral Home on April 27, 2014 at 2 p.m. Visitation with family and friends one half hour prior to the service.
