Bridges, James H.

James H. Bridges, age 80, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 19, 2019, at his home in Cashmere, WV. Born June 7, 1938, in Princeton, WV, he was the son of the late James W. and Susie L. Carroll Bridges.

Jim spent many years working in the coal mining industry before retiring from Volvo Trucks, where he was affectionately known as “Pappy”. He was a member of the Cashmere Baptist Church where he had served as deacon, trustee, Sunday School teacher, and member of the choir.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Ila Sue Bridges Basham. Left to cherish his memory includes his wife of 48 years, Laura Mae Duncan Bridges of the home; two daughters, Susan Bright and husband Steve, and Carolyn Davis and husband David; grandchildren Lindsey and Marcus Bright, and Preston Davis, all of Taylors, SC.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel in Peterstown, WV, with Pastor Walter Bonnell and Rev. James Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Princeton, WV. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, April 22, 2019, at the funeral home.
