stairsteps-to-heavenLois Maxine Breeding, 70, of Snidow St., Pembroke, departed this life Saturday morning, April 19, 2014 at Lewis-Gales Medical Center in Salem after a short illness. Born in Giles County, Virginia on March 16, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Edwin L. and Mattie Sue Eppling Songer of the Mt. Lake Community. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and labored for the betterment of her family. Lois was employed with the U S Postal Service in Pembroke as a custodian. She attended the Pembroke Christian Church and previously Lucas Memorial Christian Church. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Grover L. Breeding, her brothers Ward Malcolm and Jack Songer, and her sister Evelyn Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons Darrell Breeding, Timothy Breeding, Freddie Breeding, and Travis Breeding all of Pembroke; her daughter Beverly Breeding of Pembroke; her grandchildren Amanda Breeding and McKenzie Smith; her sister Virginia Davis of Salem; her brothers Daniel L. and Jean Songer of Colonial Heights, Eddie Songer of Christiansburg, and Mickel “Ike” and Glenda Songer of Christiansburg.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St., Pembroke with Pastor Eddie Kendall officiating. Burial will follow in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 until 8 pm. The Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department will serve as pallbearers. Online condolences may be sent by visiting
