Bratton, Lee Donald
Lee Donald (Don or Donnie) Bratton, age 92 of Dublin died Monday, December 8, 2014 at his residence. He was born on December 27, 1921 in Pulaski, and was the son of the late Surlie Hutchens Bratton and Gilbert Davis Bratton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Roseberry Bratton, a son, Mark Lee Bratton, and a sister, Lois Ann Richardson. He was a U.S. Army/Air Corp Veteran that was stationed in Burma during WWII. He worked for Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point in Havelock, NC where he retired after 34 years.
Don and Gladys raised their family in Newport, NC where he was a member of the Newport Volunteer Fire Department, an EMT, and a member of the Cherry Point Masonic Lodge #688. After retirement, he and Gladys returned home to Virginia where he was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son, David Lee Bratton and his wife, Becky of Newport, NC; a daughter Leigh Ann Hess and her husband, Richard of Dublin; four grandchildren Stephanie Cannon, Aaron Bratton, Emily Hess, and Trevor Hess, and three great-grandchildren Devin Cannon, Ayden Fernandez, and Arden Fernandez.
He was never without a smile or a good story to share. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank Mike, Sharon, and Jason McGuire for their love and support along with Dr. Kaatz, Dr. Chan, Dr. Acharya, Advanced Home Health, and Good Samaritan Hospice for all the care they gave to him.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. View United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Goshorn officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. View Cemetery where military honors will be provided. The family will receive friends Wednesday, at Seagle Funeral Home from 6 until 8 p.m.
