Othar Maynard Bradley, 94, passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009, at his home with his loving family gathered around his bedside. He went to join his wife of 70 years who preceded him in death in 2007. He is also preceded in death by his youngest son, Jonathan Zane “Chew” Bradley. He worked in the coal mines for many years. He served in the United States Army and after his Honorable Discharge he trained as an Armature Winder with Coppinger Machine Shop in Bluefield, W.Va. He also worked with Hart Electric in Bluefield. He moved to Radford, Va., in 1960, where he worked at Hercules Powder Plant and retired in 1973. He was a loyal member of the Church of God for over 65 years. Survivors include his daughter, Ramona Faye Kaplan, of Radford; daughter, Wynona Gaye Slemp and husband, Jim, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; son, Maynard Ray Bradley, of Greenville, W.Va.; son, Danny Bradley and wife, Barbara, of Berryville, Va.; and daughter, Lazona Kay Bradley, of Rich Creek, Va.; adopted daughter, Patricia Nixon, of Pulaski, Va. He has 12 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; and 4 greatgreatgrandchildren. In addition to the above he helped raise 10 other children. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on July 23, 2009, at the West Radford Church of God with the Rev. James Walker and Pastor Hershel Daniels officiating. Following the service he will be laid to rest at the Bradley Cemetery in Lindside, W.Va. The Family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the West Radford Church of God.
