Billy Edmond Bradberry, 67, of Christiansburg, Va., formerly of Wytheville, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2006 in the New River Valley Medical Center. He was born August 16, 1939 in Wythe County, son of the late Clarence and Lillian Alexander Bradbery.

He was a retired C.W.O. 3 from the U.S. Navy with four tours of duty in Viet Nam and was active in sports while in the Navy. He was a member of Marion V.F.W. Post # 4667, a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, a member of Masonic Lodge in Millington, Tenn. and past member of the Wytheville Golf Club. He was a Little League Football Coach in Wytheville.

Billy was preceded in death by his first wife, Glenda Jennings Bradberry and two brothers, Donald Gene Bradberry and Jack L. Bradberry. He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Shumate Bradberry; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly Ann and Jim Maggard of Wytheville, Karen Eve and Allen Hackler of Marion; three sons and daughters-in-law, Donald Keith Bradberry of Wytheville, Ronald Kevin and Tricia Bradberry of Tampa, Fla., Kristopher Alexander Bradberry of Wytheville; one stepdaughter, Amanda Shumate and Jake Little of Orlando, Fla.; two stepsons, David Hampton Shumate of Orlando, Fla., Dexter Allen Shumate, Sr. of Sarasota, Fla.; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Nancy Bradberry of Wytheville, Clarence H. Bradberry of Richmond, Ronald Bradberry, Bo and Brenda Bradberry, all of Wytheville; 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 20, 2006 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Marion V.F.W. Post # 4667 will conduct graveside military rites. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Home Chapel. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
